One of the favorite foods for Louisiana is fried green tomatoes and today Chrissie had her first bite.
So far there has not been a food that our Chrissie has not liked and oh how she loves tomatoes and shrimp.
With us being in Louisiana there is no shortage of either of these. Chrissie loves boil, fried any way you can cook it she will eat it. Another one of her favorite foods is cheese and her yogurt each morning. Like clockwork she heads for the kitchen table and out comes her banana, her yogurt and her pink cup full of milk. Silly girl. :O)) Last night was Chrissie's Pampering Night. Each Friday my sister Teresa picks up one child in our family and carries them out to be Pampered. They go to Walmart's to chose a gift for their self and their brother or sister. Next it is off to the restaurant of their choice to eat whatever they wished. A day of being away from Momma and Poppa and get to be spoil-spoil. My sister Teresa has no children and this way she is able to enjoys getting to spoil her nieces and nephews. Everyone loves Aunt Teresa and her husband Uncle Tiny. Uncle Tiny is Hawaiian is on dialysis and has been waiting for a donor kidney and liver for over 3 years. Tiny is in and out of the hospital quiet regularly and stays in a lot of pain. It is sad to see y sister as she cares for him knowing that each day may be his last. My sister was told her husband had only a year left to live and much of this time Tiny is ill. Each Friday I watch as Tiny and Teresa's eyes light up as they take a child to their special day. That day it is a day where a child is the King or Queen. My sister always tells me it means more to her than it probably does for the kids seeing them so happy. And once all children have had their special day next Tiny and her treats them all together for one big day. On this day the children share their special day and let Uncle Tiny and Aunt Teresa know how special they are to them. It is good for a child to have extended family and family members that want to pamper and love them.
Our family is quite a large family of 9 children and 12 grandchildren.
Both Gary and I came from large families and we decided that we also wanted a family full of children to love. Now that all the older children have moved off and have their own families we wanted once again to
parent our next two sweeties Braska and Zack. Hard not to pick up their photos to share them with others.
Everyone in our family is used to use to conversation of Adoption. I decide prior to adopting that we would be open and honest in letting our children know they were adopted. Some families feel to wait as their children get older so they would understand. But honestly if you do this as they grow they know it is nothing to hide or be afraid to discuss. Like the birth of a new baby adopting a child should be discuss by all family members. This way everyone's feeling are shared. With Chrissie's adoption we counted down the days in bringing her home and we are also doing the same with Braska and Zack. But at the moment counting hte days since we started and it has been way longer than my heart wishes. As time gets closer and we have travel dates we can do some travel counting and then counting days till court. Next the biggest count down of ever GOTCHA DAY.. It is as great as any Birthday can be. Not one Gotcha Day did I not cry and nor was there a day when I had to leave our child in between waiting to bring them home. After our first trip with Chrissie I missed her so much and now it seems like I have forgotten it had taken this long of a wait. It has been over 8 months since we committed to Braska and Zack. And will be well over a year when we finally get to bring them both home. A very long pregnancy I hate to say..
There is a fundraiser for both Zack and Braska and I need to attach a link for everyone to view. At the moment I will share the link on my FB. So if you are interested message me and I will add you on my friend's list.. Hoping to get the link added to my blog shortly... Our family is still in great need of donations. We will be traveling in 2 months and we still need over $4,000 to travel and then start raising remaining agency and travel funds for trip 2. Please I ask that you share our blog with others in hopes for sponsors and donations.... God Bless
