Apostilles,Baton Rouge, 1 Ferret, Some Monkeys & A Car Full Of Kids

Yes... we finally made it to Baton Rouge to the LA Secretary of the State Commission Office.
$200.00 later in apostilles plus the same $200.00 in notary fees we have completed our dossier to adopt.  Shipping and couriering documents.
And this does not include the prior $200.00 in document notary fees  & appostille fees we had to submit prior when committing to the girls.  With these documents we had to update our contract, (three so far), Submit and appoint a Power Of Attorney to Toni in Bulgaria.
This "POA"will give our attorney Toni permission to submit our documents and follow up on paperwork for our adoption. Keep us updated on our girls, file necessary paperwork  and keep status of our adoption.
This is a  big relieve to finally have our documents complete.
** Now just praying that nothing else is needed or any changes need to be made. This has been very stressful, trying to find doctors, getting medical exams,  running to notaries, redoing document after document.

Everything has added up quickly, with one child  the cost is normally about $20,000 to $26,000 will end up being over $30,000 plus total with 2 children.  Much of the costs involved were our medical exams costing us over $1500.00 alone, while our new insurance did not cover these. Still how can you put a price on your children and you must do what is necessary to complete an adoption to bring your children home.

Carla is reviewing our dossier one last time with Toni and next FEDEX it to Bulgaria if all is in order.
Toni will then translate and submit all of the documents in our Dossier to the Ministry of Justice in Bulgaria.  Hoping nad praying to hear something in September about a travel date for our first trip.  We are so excited about seeing our little girls.  Both girls will celebrate their 5th birthdays before we are able to travel.  So when we travel we will bring them their birthday gifts.  I made them each some dresses and purchased them some toys to keep after we leave our visits.

Okay our trip to Baton Rouge
In our car was several build a bears, three kids, luggage for 20 kids, snacks & one ferret.
I started caring for ferrets since age 11 years and presently I  own and operate a ferret shelter here in Louisiana called "The Ferret Mama's Haven Rescue Shelter"  My shelter has been operating since 1990 and have assisted in placing over 800 plus ferrets, 100 or so cat and kittens, many other small pets during the past twenty years.. Currently I am expanding another ferret shelter to my shelter in the Baton Rouge area. This will help me in ferrets being picked up an shelter in several areas of our state.  While I am away during the first trip James will handle all incoming ferrets for me. I am hoping to retire from my major shelter into several smaller shelters through out Louisiana.
It is amazing what pets I recieve in during a month. From bunnies, hamsters, birds, turtles you just never know what is next.  Our little Noah's Ark.

Look at these caged monkeys!
The kids were great during the trip and while driving.  We left out about 3:00AM and stopped at a rest area for a breakfast picnic. We watched the sun come up about 6:30 AM near a small lake area.  Watching the sun resting on the lake's waterfront was beautiful. The kids just loved being able to spend time together  Our three little Mouse-a-teers...  Most of the trip they quietly sat in the car watching TV and talking. We decided to make a mini vacation out of the trip and enjoy each minute of just watching the kids have a great time. Being on a tight budget we decide to use our zoo tickets, some of our hotels points to stay the weekend.  Our main investment was the gas to get there and back. We stayed at the Drury Inn Suites.  Free breakfast with all the trimmings, popcorn and coke, movies, swimming, the night dinner was included each night.  So we only had to worry about lunch which we ate at the Zoo with the monkies. We had a wonderful time just walking the zoo.. It was well over 104 degrees so we were only able to ride the train around the zoo and walk for about 2 hours. Christian and Patrick love the zoo and wanted to stay all day. Even in the heat they still were happy. Makayla was more interested in the boys than the monkeys.
